Leadership Johns Creek Launches Student Class

Organization accepting applications from high schoolers.

Calling all high-achieving students: Leadership Johns Creek wants you.

For three years LJC has consisted of a class of adult business and community members in a yearlong program teaching leadership skills through themed-days and class projects.

Now the group is adding a student division. Structured a little differently than the adult class, the student class is a two-year program for sophomores and juniors residing in the city of Johns Creek and attending either , , or Centennial high schools.

The first year will be about learning leadership skills and completing community service projects. The students will spend the second year will be spent utilizing their learned skills at their own schools.

"This program is going to accelerate these students' development of leadership," said Ron Jones, an LJC board member. "Usually students don’t get trained in leadership until they enter the military or workforce, but we’re dropping it back into their high schools. By the time they get to college they will already know how to lead a group."
