Johns Creek Student Named 'Athlete of the Month'

Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and XL212 honored local students, April 23.

The Greater North Fulton Chamber of Commerce and XL212 recently recognized area students as their outstanding North Fulton student-athletes for March and April. Β 

Honored for their exceptional academic, athletic and civic accomplishments, Centennial High School's Matt Celani and Blessed Trinity High School's Reed Scott were honored at the GNFCC Eggs & Enterprise Breakfast on April 23.

Celani, named March Male Student-Athlete of the Month, is the goalkeeper for the Knights soccer team. He has posted 26 career shutouts including 21 saves in seven games, including 5 shutouts. He is a three-time scholar athlete and has been a member of FCA, National Honor Society and Young Life.

Scott, the April Male Student-Athlete of the Month, pitches for Blessed Trinity baseball and has posted a 5-2 record with a 1.2 ERA, with 47 strike outs and only 4 walks. Reed earned the Goizeuta Scholarship and helps out with the local Miracle League, FCA and has helped with the Sam Robb Basketball Tournament for Childhood Cancer.

The pair were honored alongside female student-athletes, Emma Neish from North Springs Charter High School and Allie Buchalski from Johns Creek High School.

Buchalski, the April Female Student-Athlete of the Month, is a three time State Champion cross country runner. This year she also won the region 1600M and 3200M in track. Buchalski is also a Scholar Athlete and has maintained a 3.9 GPA. She is also involved with Girl Scouts, Student Venture and started an Unsung Heroes program at her school.

Neish, the March Female Student-Athlete of the Month, plays lacrosse for North Springs Charter High School. She has had 16 goals, 22 ground balls, and 10 assists this season. She is also an exception student with a perfect 4.0, an AP Scholar Athlete title and ranks 5th in her graduating class. Neish is also involved in volunteering at Scottish Rite and at Los Ninos Premaros among others.
