Johns Creek Student is Google Doodle Finalist

Shakerag 3rd-grader's Van Gogh-inspired work is Georgia winner.

A Johns Creek student is a state finalist in Google's national Doodle art contest.

According to 11Alive.com, the work of Anoushka Misra, a 9-year-old third-grader at , was recently unveiled at a school program.

In the Google contest, more than 100,000 young artists from across the country entered in five age categorys. Anoushka's work is Georgia's winner for the K-third grade category. The public can vote for national finalists through May 10. Five finalists and an overall winner will be announced May 17, with the overall winner's work displayed on the Google website on May 18.

The state finalists were chosen by Google employees and a panel of guest judges, including Katy Perry and Jordin Sparks. 

This year's contest asked the young artists to depict who they would visit if they could travel back in time. Anoushka told Google she chose Vincent Van Gogh because "I feel that he was one of the most admired artists. . . . My descriptive picture shows Vincent Van Gogh's true art genius. He's immortal."
