High School Teacher of the Year From CHS
Chattahoochee's Kimberly Cooney is Fulton's High School Teacher of the Year.
Chattahoochee's Kimberly Cooney, Fulton County Schools' High School Teacher of the Year, will be recognized at an awards luncheon on Nov. 2. She, along with Ridgeview Charter's Barbara Bell - Middle School Teacher of the Year, and Alpharetta Elementary's Pamela Haight - Elementary Teacher of the Year, were finalists for Overall Teacher of the Year, which was awarded to Haight.
“There is no greater way to engage with the world than through teaching," said Cooney, an English teacher, earlier this year when the recognitions were announced. "My students and I wrestle with some of the most challenging issues together. We talk, we argue, we disagree sometimes, but my goal is that every person who leaves my classroom at the end of the year be a changed human being – and that includes me.”
Dan Sims, principal of Tri-Cities High School, will be recognized as the district’s first-ever Principal of the Year, while James Stewart, a school technology specialist at Esther Jackson Elementary School in Roswell, will be honored as the Overall School Professional of the Year, and Melissa Arnold, a bus driver with the Transportation Department, will be honored as the Overall Support Professional of the Year.
