Former NYC School Chancellor Talks Tech in Johns Creek

Joel Klein is the current CEO of Amplify.

Fulton County Schools Superintendent Robert Avossa recently hosted Joel Klein, former chancellor of New York City schools and current CEO of Amplify, a company dedicated to re-imagining K-12 education by creating digital products and services that empower teachers, students and parents in new ways.

This spring, Fulton County Schools piloted a program in four middle schools using Amplify technology products. The pilot uses tablet computers preloaded with educational content to engage students and expand upon the curriculum.

Klein, who worked within the nation’s largest school system with more than a million students, was able to observe classrooms at Autrey Mill Middle School and McNair Middle School, where the pilot is being conducted. Avossa and Klein also engaged in a roundtable discussion with Fulton County students, teachers, key community and business leaders - including Ralph de la Vega, CEO of AT&T Wireless - about the way instructional technology is transforming classrooms in Fulton County Schools.
