Crawling Critters Invade Wilson Creek Elementary

Entomologist Paul Bello recently taught students about insects.

They’re creepy, crawly, and kids are crazy about them.

That’s why students at Wilson Creek Elementary School are mesmerized when “The Bug Man,” also known as professional entomologist Paul Bello, visits the school each year to educate students about the insects we share our planet with – the good, the bad and the ugly.

This year, Bello visited the school on May 21 to give students an up-close and personal look at insects such as live termites and Madagascar hissing cockroaches. Bello captivated students with colorful photos of termites, bedbugs, roaches, gypsy moths and mosquitoes. He advised students to use extreme caution around fire ants and their mounds, since some people may have an allergic reaction to the sting of a fire ant.
