Baseball, Basketball Clinics at Pisgah

Hitting clinic starts Feb. 20; shooting starts March 3.

Former Major Leaguer Todd Greene will be hosting a hitting clinic on Monday, Feb. 20, at . There will be two sessions – one from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for 13u and 14u players. The second session will be from 2 to 4 p.m. for 11u and 12u players. Both sessions will be held at the Patriot Athletic Campus, located at 9825 Brumbelow Road in Johns Creek.

The cost is $70 and space is limited to 10 players per session. To register e-mail vsg725@yahoo.com. 

Greene, a veteran of 12 years in the majors, is currently a scout with the Arizona Diamondbacks and a roving instructor with the Mount Pisgah baseball program.

Next month, Mount Pisgah’s head girls varsity basketball coach Jennifer Osborne will be offering a shooting clinic on Saturday, March 3, for boys and girls ages 6-10 and Saturday, March 17, for boys and girls ages 11-13. Both days will run from 9 a.m. to noon and will take place in the Drummond Center, which is located on Pisgah’s East Campus (9875 Nesbit Ferry Road in Johns Creek). The cost of the clinic is $30.

On March 3, Osborne will cover topics such as proper form for a layup (left and right-handed); how to grip and use guide hand; how to use legs in the shot; and shooting for distance and height.

The second session will focus on more advanced topics such as proper form; when to take what shot; how to attack the defense; extension and follow through on the shot; and getting a quick release.
