POLL: Have You Been Vaccinated for the Flu Yet?

The number of states reporting widespread flu activity has increased according to the CDC.

By Kristi Reed

The latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) report indicates the flu is now widespread in several states.

Flu season typically begins in the fall and peaks in January and February. The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone 6 months of age and older, according to Flu.gov. If you have yet to get the flu vaccine, it's not too late. Though early immunization is best, officials advise the vaccine can be administered in January, February or beyond. Immunity can take up to two weeks to develop.

The CDC estimates approximately 40 percent of children and adults were vaccinated by the start of flu season in November.

The flu vaccine is available by shot or nasal spray. Click here for a list of nearby locations where you can get vaccinated.
