Veterans’ Club Kicks Off in Johns Creek

May 16, 23 and June 6 events at city's Park Place at Newtown Park.

The city of Johns Creek is inviting local U.S. military veterans to create a service club at Park Place, the city’s active adult center. The first gathering of the club, a cook-out, is set for noon, Wednesday, May 16, with other events set for May 23 and June 6.  

As envisioned, the club would enrich the lives of Johns Creek’s veterans through events, programs and activities tailored to the interests of military men and women. Tentatively called the Veterans’ Club at Park Place, the club would be run and organized by its members with the city providing logistical support and meeting space. 

Activities could include:

Veterans’ Oral History project (videotaping of members’ military experiences for history, children, grandchildren, etc.)

  • Visits to local veterans hospitals
  • Activities with returning warriors groups
  • Care package outreach to local deployed units

Veterans of any branch of the U.S. military who reside in Johns Creek are encouraged to come to all of the Veterans’ Club at Park Place kick-off events:

  • June 6, 6 p.m. – Inaugural meeting
