Riley, Shafer to Run Unopposed; Albers to Face Democrat
Incumbent Lynne Riley will run unopposed for State House; Albers to face Democrat for State Senate.
With election qualifying having ended on Friday, it's clear that Lynne Riley-R, will run unopposed for the State House, while David Shafer-R will run unopposed for State Senate.
Meanwhile, a Democrat threw his hat into the ring for the state Senate District 56 seat, guaranteeing a challenge for the Republican nominee. With only the incumbent, John Albers, having qualified for the Republican primary, he appears headed for a general election battle with Akhtar Sadiq, a Democrat from Roswell.
In the state House, Johns Creek is represented by Riley, District 50, a Johns Creek resident. The city is represented in the state Senate in District 48 by Shafer, a Duluth resident, with a smaller portion represented in District 56 by Albers, a Roswell resident.
