The Johns Creek City Council tonight will hold a public hearing on an intergovernmental agreement with Fulton County to construct and maintain a public safety antenna.

The hearing will be held during the council's special called meeting, which starts at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Johns Creek City Hall.

The proposed 400-foot public safety antenna is part of a proposed intergovernmental agreement with Fulton County and the city, and the antenna would sit at city-owned property at 9855 Old Medlock Bridge Road near State Bridge Road.

The antenna would improve public safety communications, which the city said will benefit both its Police and Fire departments, but also the Fulton County Schools Police Department, Fulton County personnel that work in Johns Creek and mutual aid partners from Forsyth, Fulton, DeKalb and Gwinnett counties.

The city also states the antenna will improve the public safety radio system coverage within Johns Creek High School, Northview High School, Shakerag Middle School and Shakerag Elementary School.

The council will also consider approving a resolution authorizing Fulton County to use an existing tower at Jones Bridge Road and Morton Road to implement the construction of a new Fulton County Radio System in the city and to direct city staff to begin looking for a second tower site in the Shakerag community.
