Johns Creek Names Interim City Manager

Finance Director Monte Vavra will serve as the interim city manager until the city can find a permanent replacement.

The Johns Creek City Council last week appointed an interim city manager to lead the city for the time being.

The council appointed Finance Director Monte Vavra to the interim position during its meeting on Monday. The council had to approve a resolution to establish the interim position before appointing Vavra to the position.

Vavra officially took on the extra responsibility on Saturday. The interim will serve until a full-time manager can be hired. Vavra will have the same authority and duties that come with the permanent manager position.

Former Johns Creek City Manager John Kachmar in early January voluntarily resigned the post, which came on the heals of an Oct. 7, 2013 incident involving a verbal altercation with resident Jerry Bush.
