Haynes Bridge Road Detour Began Today

The realignment of the northern section of the road around the downtown City Center property would be delayed for months without the closure.

Did you remember that Haynes Bridge Road was being closed today at its northern end near Publix in downtown Alpharetta? Or did you get caught up in a sudden detour that sent you out of your way?

The north end of Haynes Bridge Road closed starting today, Oct. 11 to give contractors more time to complete the realignment of the road around the City Center project by year's end.

But you can still access the Publix grocery store and Chase Bank branch from a short stretch of Haynes Bridge north of Old Milton Parkway.

The city of Alpharetta is suggesting motorists use Westside Parkway as a detour. Otherwise, you'll have to use GA 9 (Main Street in Alpharetta) to get around the road closure caused by construction.

Delays caused by utility companies pulling crews off the project threatened to add months to the timeframe. Allowing the contractor, CW Matthews, to work from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. adds many hours compared to the 9 a.m.-4 p.m. schedule they would be doing with traffic along the road.
