Final Johns Creek Property Tax Hearing On Monday

The city will vote on Monday evening to set its millage rate for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Johns Creek City Council will hold the last of three public hearings on its proposed 2014 millage rate.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m. July 14 in the Council Chambers at Johns Creek City Hall, located at 12000 Findley Road, Suite 300.

The council is expected to adopt its millage rate immediately following the hearing.

The city now has a published five-year history of its tax digest, property revenues and millage rate. Johns Creek is proposing to hold its millage rate at 4.614 mills, the same it has been since its incorporation in 2006.

Each year, the Fulton County Board of Tax Assessors is required to review the assessed value for property tax purposes of taxable property in the county.

When the trend of prices on properties that have recently sold in the county indicates there has been an increase in the fair market value of any specific property, the board is required by law to reassess the value of the property and increase the assessment — known as a reassessment.
