The on Monday recognized Laura Story, a Johns Creek resident and worship leader, for winning a Grammy Award.
In February Story won a Grammy for Best Contemporary Christian Song for "Blessings" and released her first book, What If Your Blessings Come Through Raindrops?.
In April, , including Song of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for "Blessings" and Pop/Contemporary Album of the Year for "Blessings."
The council's resolution, presented to Story by councilmember Brad Raffensperger, read:
The City of Johns Creek recognizes Johns Creek resident, Laura Story who was recently awarded a Grammy for the “Best Contemporary Christian Song” by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences for her Gospel song “Blessings”; and Whereas, Ms. Story has received many awards and accolades for her spiritual leadership and her dedication to music and she continues to teach and minister through her music at Perimeter Church and around the country, and Whereas, music enriches human life and is an integral part of today’s society, often transcending traditional cultural boundaries, creating a shared experience and common understanding. Now therefore, the Mayor and Council of the City of Johns Creek hereby congratulate and applaud Grammy Award Winner Laura Story and wish her well in all her future endeavors.
