The Johns Creek City Council on Monday recognized Carishma Chinoy for receiving the Girl Scout of America Gold Award, the highest achievement in Girl Scouts.
Chinoy, a Northview High student, earned the award by creating a documentary film, "Breaking Barriers," which highlights the refugee community in Clarkston.
"Girl Scout Chinoy is an example of the great contribution the Girl Scout program makes in shaping today’s young women to be leaders of tomorrow," read the council's resolution in part.
