City Council Approves $53 Million Budget

Arts grants, jail agreement also OK'd.

The Johns Creek City Council on Monday unanimously approved the proposed $53 million balanced budget for 2012.

The budget includes $44,854,452 in the general fund. Revenue includes a capital project fund of $4,821,618, E-911 fund of $2,069,635 and debt service fund of $900,967.

Major capital fund projects proposed for next year total $4.8 million, including $1.03 million for a road resurfacing program, $991,000 for road improvements at the intersecton of Jones Bridge and Waters roads and $850,000 for right of way easements and intersection improvements at the intersection of Bell Road and Boles Road.

In other business, the council approved pursuing an agreement with Fulton County for use of Alpharetta's jail facilities for bookings as the city has received word that its agreement with Doraville's jail will end at some point in the future.

The council also approved awarding arts grants to the Johns Creek Arts Center ($12,500), Performing Arts North ($12,500) and the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra ($5,000).
