City Allows New Subdivision on McGinnis Ferry

Council also awards traffic control software bid, vows to support voter drive.

The Johns Creek City Council on Monday voted in favor of a rezoning change that will allow for construction of a 33-lot single family subdivision on the 7500 block of McGinnis Ferry Road.

The council was unanimous in its decision to change the zoning from agricultural to a single family dwelling district.

"I'm excited to see another residential neighborhood," said Mayor Mike Bodker. "It's good to see activity starting to pick up in our local economy."

In other business, Swapna Bhave was appointed to the city's Board of Zoning Appeals. Bhave ran for a vacant city council seat last year that was ultimately won by Brad Raffensperger.

With Super Tuesday coming up on March 6, the council voted in favor of a resolution supporting Fulton County's desire to provide education and outreach that will encourage more citizens to register and vote.

Bodker also announced that he will conduct a "Continuing Conversation with the Community" town hall on March 22.
