Bridge to be Built at Shakerag Park

Pedestrian bridge will prevent students who walk between park and River Trails Middle School from wading through water during rain.

The city of Johns Creek has announced that the parks and recreation department is planning to build a pedestrian bridge on a trail that connects River Trails Middle School and Shakerag Park.

The bridge should be completed the first week of January so as not to interfere with school and will be constructed along a flood-prone spot of the trail that children would often have to wade through during periods of heavy rain. Students frequently use that trail when walking between athletic fields.

The 40-foot pedestrian bridge costs $15,000 and will be eight feet wide and two feet higher than the lowest part of the trail.
