Two Teens Arrested for Felony Marijuana Possession, Intent to Sell

On July 24 an officer on patrol on Rod Road near the Chartwell subdivision clubhouse noticed a vehicle drive into the location and proceed all the way back to the rear of the location.

The officer stated that this caught his attention because the pool area had already been closed and because numerous drug arrests have been made in this area.

When the passenger in the car saw the officer he appeared to be telling the driver to leave the location. The officer stopped the vehicle with the men in it but were unable to stop another vehicle with two females as they left the scene since he was the only officer there.

The driver told the officer he only pulled in because he was lost and to make a U-turn. The officer could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked the driver to exit the vehicle. The officer found marijuana in a plastic container as well as marijuana that had been baked into brownies.

The suspects told police that they had come to the location to sell the brownies to the two females who had driven away and had been doing that for some time. One of the suspects also told police that he had also been arrested for smoking marijuana at that location when he was 15, and that he had also been robbed for marijuana at gunpoint during a drug deal there. He said he did not report the incident because he knew the person who robbed him.

The officer contacted the Johns Creek Special Investigations Unit regarding the incident.

The males, a 17-year-old Johns Creek resident and a 17-year-old Roswell resident, were arrested and charged with felony marijuana possession and transported to the Alpharetta jail.

Texting While Driving Leads to Drug Arrest

On July 25 a Johns Creek Police officer saw the driver of a vehicle in the McGinnis Ferry and Medlock Bridge area texting while driving. The officer stated that the driver made eye contact with him, and then went back to using her cell phone. At that point he pulled her over.

The driver told the officer that she did not know she could not text while driving. The officer noted four other people in the car with her and could smell the suspected odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

The officer asked the driver if she had smoked any marijuana and she said she had not. The officer tested her and determined that she was not under the influence of drug or alcohol.

When the officer let one of the other passengers, a 20-year-old Johns Creek resident, out of the car, he noted that he could really smell the marijuana. The passenger told the officer that there was marijuana in the car.

Before the officer could search the car, two of the other passengers told him the marijuana belonged to the 20-year-old, and that it was under the front passenger seat.

The officer searched the vehicle and found a plastic water bottle that had been converted into a bong and a plastic bag with suspected marijuana in it. The officer also found two unopened beers, and seized them since the driver was under 21.Β The driver denied that the beers were hers.

The officer charged the driver, a 19-year-old Alpharetta resident, with misdemeanor underage alcohol possession and texting while driving and released her.

The passenger suspected of having the marijuana was arrested and charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and transported to the Alpharetta jail.

The other passengers were not charged.
