Updated, Monday, Feb. 4, 6:15 p.m.:

Two adults and two children who were found dead in an Aylesbury Farms apartment on Abbotts Bridge Road in Johns Creek on Monday were the victims of an apparent murder-suicide, police say.

The bodies were found after Johns Creek Police conducted a welfare check Monday morning after a call from a concerned co-worker of one of the victims came in through emergency dispatch at 11:30 a.m.

Police have not released an official cause of death, pending a report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner. The names of the victims will not be released until relatives are notified.

The victims were found throughout the first-floor apartment and included an adult male, an adult female, and two male children, ages approximately 12 and 5.

Johns Creek Police Chief Ed Densmore described the scene as "complicated," since it involved four bodies. He also said that this is the first homicide in Johns Creek since it became a city some six years ago.

Densmore said the scene has been hard on his detectives and crime scene investigators. "We're all human, we're all parents," he said. "When you deal with something like this it's going to take a little bit out of you."
