Police Seek Man Trying to Lure Kids Into Vehicle

Authorities in Forsyth and Fulton counties are looking for a man who may have tried to lure children into his vehicle on two separate occassions.

The man is described as Asian, in his late 30's or early 40's and wearing glasses, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

The first incident happened on Sept. 6 in the Deerlake subdivision located off Peachtree Parkway in south Forsyth. That's where the man believed to be driving a white van pulled his vehicle near an 8-year-old boy who was walking home. The man asked the boy if he needed a ride. The child got away and told his parents who later reported what happened to law enforcement.

The second incident happened about a week and a half later, according to WSB-TV.

In a similar sounding report, another child was approached by an Asian man in a subdivision called Blackstone, which is located about two miles from Deerlake. But in this incident the man was driving a different vehicle, described to be a gray or brown truck. Johns Creek Police said the child did get away safely.

Don't teach your child to associate danger only with strangers. Teach them to be aware of dangerous situations, whether they know the person or not. There are two types of strangers, Good and Bad.

Good strangers don’t ask children for help they will ask another adult. Good strangers would never ask a child if they needed a ride. Bad strangers may try to trick a child.

• Give your children a list (names/cell/home phone) of 3 adults you trust. These are their "Safety Adults."

• Teach your children not to go anywhere with an adult, even one they know unless a parent or "Safety Adult" knows where they are going. This includes neighbors, parents' friends, teachers, coaches, etc.

• From the time your children learn how to speak, teach them their full name/phone number/ address.
