No Charges Brought in Kachmar Dispute with Resident

Johns Creek Police announce the investigation has been closed in the incident involving the City Manager.

Johns Creek police have determined that no crime was committed during a verbal confrontation between City Manager John Kachmar and Gerald John Bush following an October 7 City Council meeting.

"We did not find evidence of anything physical during the investigation," said Lt. Chris Byers with the Johns Creek Police Department who said police could find no evidence of the "poke in the chest" that was said to have taken place during the verbal argument between Kachmar and Bush said Byers.

Investigators interviewed 11 people, but none could corroborate allegations by Bush, a Johns Creek resident, that Kachmar poked him in the chest during a heated exchange in the parking lot of City Hall after the meeting.

Police interviewed Bush, his wife, Cynthia, Kachmar, residents who attended the meeting, City Council members, City staff, and police officers who went to Bush’s house to take his report.

“I regret that this unfortunate incident happened," said Kachmar in an email. "However, the police report says it all, so I have nothing to add except to bring to the public’s attention the report’s reference that proves this incident was deliberately escalated by politics.”
