Johns Creek Ranked as America's 6th "Safest City"

City named by separate independent researchers as one of the safest cities in Georgia and the United States.

Two different independent researchers have named the City of Johns Creek as one of the safest cities in Georgia and the United States.

Home security experts SafeWise ranked Johns Creek second in its list of the 50 Safest Cities in Georgia with populations over 5,000. The company based the ranking on findings from the FBI's "Crime in the U.S." report.

And the real estate data resource company NeighborhoodScout.com ranked Johns Creek sixth in its list of 100 Safest Cities in the U.S. with populations over 25,000. NeighborhoodScout.com also used data from the FBI's Uniform Crime Reporting program.

With a crime rate for both violent and property crime combined of 7 per 1,000 residents, the crime rate in Johns Creek is one of the lower rates in America among communities of all sizes (lower than 88% of America's communities). One's chance of becoming a victim of crime in Johns Creek is one in 141. Compared to communities within Georgia, Johns Creek‘s crime rate is lower than nearly 91% of the state's cities and towns. It is for these reasons that Johns Creek is ranked as one of the top 100 safest cities in the U.S.A.

Additionally, NeighborhoodScout analyzed all cities and towns in America with a similar population size to Johns Creek, and we found that the crime rate in Johns Creek is one of the lowest in the nation for its size. This means Johns Creek is one of the safest places in America in which to live for its size, a very important finding.

The crime data that NeighborhoodScout used for this analysis are the seven offenses from the uniform crime reports, collected by the FBI from 17,000 local law enforcement agencies, and include both violent and property crimes, combined.

This is important because the overall crime rate can be further illuminated by understanding if violent crime or property crimes (or both) are the major contributors to the general rate of crime in Johns Creek.
