Johns Creek Home Hit By Gun Fire, Police Searching for Shooter

The shot came after a phone call to a woman who has been stalked for a decade by a former student.

On Wednesday, Jan. 22, a Johns Creek woman had a unsettling call from a man who has been stalking her for 10 years - then the next day before dawn a shot rang out hitting the house while she and her husband and child were sleeping inside.

Police found a bullet hole in the frame above the front door of the family's Cauley Creek Drive home. The bullet was discovered by police on the floor of the foyer.

The woman, Jean Armstrong, 40, is a former professor at Troy University in Alabama. The stalker, James Monroe Jones, 31, is a former student who has been sending her emails, making phone calls and text messages.

John Armstrong, the woman's husband, said the former student had been stalking his wife since she intervened when he threatened to kill himself. Jean Armstrong said Jones had become infatuated with her.

According to the police report he made a call Wednesday morning threatening that "he was going to kill himself and take someone with him."

The family was uninjured. Police are continuing with their investigation.
