Johns Creek High Hosting 'Guns & Hoses'

Match between Johns Creek and Alpharetta police and firefighters is Tuesday.

Johns Creek High School is hosting the 4th annual Johns Creek and Alpharetta public safety games on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 7:30 p.m. This basketball game, known as “Guns N Hoses”, was started by Johns Creek High School Varsity Boys Coach Pete Goggin.

His family is New York Irish going all the back to the 1900s, and most of his relatives were either police officers or firefighters. Coach Goggin’s grandfather was a firefighter, his uncle was a police officer in New York City, and his great uncles were police and firefighters.

"I hold a special place in my heart for these men and women who put their lives on the line for us every day," Goggins said. "They are special people and they deserve recognition for their outstanding work in our community.”

While the police and firefighters play a fiercely competitive game, the camaraderie between these servicemen is something worth watching. The event is free to the public, so there is no excuse not to come and show your support.

The Chick-fil-A cow will be in attendance, and there are several items from sponsors that will be given away at half-time.
