Five Arrested in Illegal Massage Parlor Bust

Johns Creek Police on Tuesday raided Sapphire Spa, which is accused of operating without proper massage parlor permits.

Johns Creek Police have arrested five people in connection with a massage parlor allegedly not having proper permits to operate in the city.

Police on Tuesday closed Sapphire Spa on Medlock Bridge Road and arrested Kennesaw residents Melissa Ann Gordon, 24, and Karla Elizabeth Lauzon, 20; Contessa Grant 24, of Alpharetta; Karissa May Shadi, 21, of Stockbridge; and Alhaussane Toure, 32, of Decatur.

Gordon, Lauzon, Grant and Shadi have all been charged with not having a massage permit while Toure is charged with disorderly conduct, the police department said in  a news release on Thursday.

Police were tipped off by a client who "felt he had been cheated by a woman he said he had paid for sexual services."

"During the dispute with the woman, the general manager attempted to use a taser on the client," the department said.

The massage parlor owner allegedly operated without permits or licenses, according to the department. That alleged violation gave the city authority to shutter the business.

Police also said the spa advertised on the Internet its escort and "adult sensual massage services."

Johns Creek police on Tuesday executed a search warrant in order to gather evidence of prostitution.

"Places like this have no place in Johns Creek," said Chief Ed Densmore. "We are continuing our investigation and more charges may be forthcoming."
