Council Member's Daughter Caught With Marijuana in Car

The 17-year-old daughter of newly elected Cori Davenport was also cited for speeding and disorderly conduct by the Johns Creek Police.

On Monday evening, Jan. 20, Tiffany Amber Davenport, 17, the daughter of newly elected Johns Creek Council member Cori Davenport, was stopped by Johns Creek Police for driving nearly 70 mph down State Bridge Road - and found marijuana in the vehicle.

She was stopped shortly after 9 p.m. When Davenport rolled down the window of the 2014 black Mercedes she was driving, Officer Koorey, who had made the stop, noticed the distinct smell of marijuana. He asked Davenport and her passenger if there was any marijuana in the car but she denied that there was any inside.

In his report Officer Koorey said that he advised Davenport and her passenger that the vehicle was going to be searched and "gave them a final opportunity to be honest ... They looked at each other as if trying to decide what to do. Davenport then stated that there was a little bit of marijuana inside the car."

Officer Seymour was called to assist. When he arrived, both were asked to get out of the car. Davenport told Officer Seymour the marijuana belonged to her friend who had been riding in the passenger seat.

The passenger, a 14-year-old black male who resides in the Country Club of the South, was not identified because of his age.

"When I asked Davenport where the marijuana was located in the vehicle she stated (the 14-year-old male passenger) had the marijuana," said Officer Semour in his report. She told the officer that she was not aware of any more marijuana in the car but later police discovered a marijuana brownie in a foil package tucked inside her purse.

After she complained of being cold, Officer Seymour placed Davenport in the back seat of his patrol car. While inside the car, Davenport made a call to a male friend which was recorded by police.

Police report the conversation as follows:

Davenport: I'm sitting in the back of a police car. Male caller: Why"
Davenport: I hope they don't find that brownie. Male caller: Are you f---ing serious?
Davenport: It's in my purse, it's in my car. I'm in the back and there's no handle. I was sitting in there, I should have gotten it. Male caller: Tiffany, why, why, did you go pick up? Oh, baby.
Davenport: Someone is taking all the blame for me though. Male caller: Who?
Davenport: (14-year-old passenger) I love you he's walking back. Male caller: I love you too, bye.

Davenport was issued citations for speeding and disorderly conduct and was released to her mother, Cori Davenport, who had been called to the scene by police. The younger Davenport has a Feb. 18 court date at the Johns Creek Municipal Court.

Davenport's purse, a packet of White Owl Grape Cigarillos and a Michael Kars sunglass case that contained traces of marijuana were collected as evidence.

The 14-year-old male passenger was released into the custody of his mother. He was issued a citation for possession of marijuana (less than 1 oz.).

Patch attempted to contact Council member Davenport for the story, but she was not available for comment.
