A couple walking their dog New Year's day made a grisly discovery when they found the body of a young male in a creek behind Taylor Middle School.

"Around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, two people walking along the trail by the creek discovered the body which was partially submerged in the water," said Johns Creek Police spokesperson Doug Nurse.

Nurse said the body was that of a male in his late teens. His body was found face down trapped under a log in a creek about a quarter of a mile north of the Johns Creek middle school.

The teenager was found with a wallet and backpack. Police have made a tentative ID but are withholding the information until next of kin have been notified.
