Blotter: Underage Drinking, Pot in Church Lot

Underage Drinking

On June 20 a Johns Creek Police officer was dispatched to a home in reference to a noise complaint of two young adult males being loud and possibly drinking underage. The officer said he could smell alcohol on them. He asked them if they were 21 years old, and one said he was 20 but would be 21 soon. He said that he had a few beers earlier, some with his father inside and some while they were playing Frisbee in the street. The father agreed to have the son attend the police department's underage drinking diversion program rather than be charged with underage possession of alcohol.

On June 23 a Johns Creek Police officer was dispatched to the parking lot of after an off-duty Fulton County Schools officer found six young adults smoking marijuana. The Johns Creek officer received permission to search one of the vehicles and a K9 officer did an open-air sniff of the other vehicle. No marijuana was found in either vehicle. Minor residue of marijuana was located in a cigar wrapper - the suspects had been pulling out the tobacco from cigars and loading the wrappers with marijuana. The officer reported that there was an overwhelming odor of marijuana on the suspects. During the investigation, a female subject became faint and passed out but regained consciousness. Paramedics were called to the scene. The female passed out again and was transported to . All suspects were released to their parents with a warning.
