Suspicious Vehicle Call Leads to Cocaine Arrest

The following information was supplied by the Johns Creek Police Department.

On Aug. 8 police were dispatched to Barnwell Road at the Sandy Lane Drive intersection due to a suspicious vehicle call in Rivermont neighborhood. The caller said that the vehicle had been driving through the neighborhood for about five minutes with its lights off.

Police were unable to locate a vehicle matching the description, but found two people standing in a breeze way on Sandy Lane Drive. Police asked the subjects if they had seen the vehicle, one of the men stated that a taxi had brought him and a female to that location. The man pointed out the woman, passed out on her back on the grass.

The police officer called for EMS and an additional unit. The man became nervous and kept reaching into his picket as if attempting to hide or discard something, the officer stated in the police report.

The man told the officer that he had met the woman at a bar and was taking her home. He said that he had checked her license, and the address showed Sandy Lane Drive. He said that when he arrived at the location, he found she no longer lived there.

Another officer arrived and determined that the woman was simply drunk. She was charged with disorderly conduct, and was transported to her home, which was found to be inside the neighborhood.

The officer searched the man and found what he determined to be cocaine in his pocket. He also had two grams of marijuana. The man, a Norcross resident, was charged with felony possession of cocaine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and was taken to the Fulton County Jail.
