Autopsy: Woman Found in Chattahoochee River Drowned

A medical examiner ruled the cause of death for Gee Hee Kang, 57 of Johns Creek was drowning.

A woman whose body was found along the banks of the Chattahoochee River Saturday morning has been identified as a 57-year-old Johns Creek woman.

An autopsy conducted by the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office concluded the cause of death for Gee Hee Kang was drowning, according to a news release from the city of Johns Creek. 

The woman's death remains under investigation by the Johns Creek Police Department, city spokesman Doug Nurse said.

Two boaters discovered Kang’s body in the river near State Bridge Road, Nurse added. Kang, who was wearing street clothing when she was discovered, had no identification on her person. 

However, the woman had in her possession a key to her apartment complex mailbox, which allowed police to ascertain her name, Nurse said.
