UPDATE: Johns Creek Intersection Reopens After Gas Line Break

A construction company mistakenly drilled into a high-pressure, six-inch gas line near the intersection of Haynes Bridge and Old Alabama roads.

UPDATE at 4:15 p.m.: The intersection at Old Alabama and Haynes Bridge roads in has reopened after an Atlanta Gas Light crew cut off a 6-inch gas line broken by a construction company working at the intersection earlier today.  

Both westbound lanes of Old Alabama Road are open, but one eastbound lane of Old Alabama Road will remain closed until about 8:30 p.m. while the pipeline is repaired. The second eastbound lane is open to through traffic.

Rod Road, opposite Haynes Bridge Road and the entrance to Chartwell subdivision, is open.

The intersection of Haynes Bridge and Old Alabama roads in Johns Creek is closed after a construction company "accidentally drilled into a high-pressure six-inch gas line," city spokesperson Doug Nurse said on Monday.
 
Atlanta Gas Light Company has been notified and in en route to the scene. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes. Park Place and the Johns Creek Community Center at Newtown Park are closed.

This is the third time in as many weeks a gas line has been severed in the city. On June 10, a gas line break closed Jones Bridge Road between the Ray Moss Connector and Oak Landing Drive.

On June 17, the Ray Moss Connector at Jones Bridge Road was closed due to a contractor hitting an unmarked gas line.
