In Memoriam: Judson 'Bo' Byron Godwin Jr.

Bo Godwin taught Sunday school for 15 years at Johns Creek Baptist Church.

The following obituary appears on the McDonald & Son Funeral Home & Crematory website:

Judson Byron Godwin Jr., 54, passed away Thursday, April 4. To everyone he was known simply as "Bo."

He graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with an Electrical Engineer degree in 1983. Although he graduated from Southern Poly, Bo attended GA Tech also. While there he decided, after never playing organized football, to tryout for the GA Tech football team. He did make the team as a walk-on, and played during the 1979-80 season. His experience at GA Tech made him a lifelong Yellow Jacket fan, for better or worse.

During the early phase of Bo's engineering career, he worked for several electrical design firms. He was specifically involved in the Grady Hospital renovation, the Fulton County Jail, and Capital City Plaza, to name a few.

However, for the last 16 years, Bo has worked for AT&T as Senior Management in Planning and Construction of data centers. As much as he enjoyed working and being productive, Bo enjoyed hunting, golf and, perhaps most of all, teaching Sunday school to 5th grade boys. It meant so much to him to encourage his classes to study and know their Bible. He taught Sunday school for 15 years at Johns Creek Baptist Church, where he also served as deacon.

While serving as deacon, Bo headed up the Homebound Ministry. He truly had a caring heart for those who could not attend church services, and managed to make sure they knew they were not forgotten. Bo had a love for The Lord, and served him every single day of his life. This man of God will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, and friend.

Bo is survived by his wife of 29 years, Lisa Warren Godwin; son, Christopher Godwin; daughter, Michelle Godwin; parents, Byron and Marlene Godwin; sister Julie Davis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jimmy and Etha Warren; brother-in-law, Mike Warren, and many, many other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 10, at 11 a.m. at Johns Creek Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Memory of Bo to Johns Creek Baptist Church, 6910 McGinnis Ferry Road, Johns Creek, GA 30005 or to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org/donate.
