Vision and Branding for Johns Creek

I would like to talk a little about my vision for the city.  The city is in the midst of a branding initiative that is being conducted in conjunction with the Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau, Johns Creek Advantage, and the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce to market the city to new businesses, visitors, and residents.  As part of that effort, a survey of residents and businesses was conducted to help determine the city’s strengths, weaknesses, challenges, and opportunities.

The branding effort is important to generate positive economic development in our city.  The objective is to explain clearly to businesses, future residents, and visitors why they should come to Johns Creek.  In other words, what makes the community special that makes it stand out.

The consultant for the branding effort stated:  “The best place to find this figurative nugget of marketing gold is in the hearts and minds of the people who call Johns Creek home.”  I agree.  We should all take a moment in this election to think about what we want our city to be known for, and how best to make that happen.

I think we can all agree that great schools and great housing are key factors in attracting residents and businesses to Johns Creek.  To that I would like to add great parks, some sort of technological advantage such as faster broadband service, and a city government that actively engages with the community to make the best decisions possible.  We also have some challenges that we need to meet including traffic and maintenance of our infrastructure.  If we can do these things, we can attract people and businesses to our community to fill empty storefronts and increase housing values, and keep our community special in the Atlanta area and nationwide.
