Election Results - Thank You!

I apologize for taking some time to get this article out.  I was out all day yesterday picking up my campaign signs to help reduce some of the visual clutter in our city for at least a little while.  It was also a great opportunity to pick up plenty of litter.  Please let me know if you see any of my signs still out there so I can pick them up.  For everyone who displayed my sign in your yard, please hold on to it so you can put it back up after the 4th of July.

By now, I am sure everyone has heard that, like the man on the radio said: “The groundhog woke up, saw his shadow, and we will have eight more weeks of campaigning.”  The voters have selected the finalists for the conclusive Johns Creek City Council races to be determined on July 22nd.  For Post 4 the choice is between Bob Gray and Eric Fragoso.  For Post 6 the choice is between Steve Broadbent and myself, Nancy Reinecke.  The slate is wiped clean and I hope we will now have an in-depth, insightful debate that will reveal much more about the candidates.

I look forward to hearing from you what are the real factors that will determine your choices for who should serve on City Council. I strongly believe that an informed choice cannot be based on “robocalls” and glossy flyers filled with catch phrases.  All the candidates want to serve the city, oppose tax increases, and promote business.

I am pleased, however, that my agenda of placing some greater focus on parks and green space, on paving our streets, on improving our zoning process and zoning decisions to protect the character of Johns Creek and not worsen our traffic problems caught on with the other candidates.  I am also glad that my message of the need on City Council for a strong voice that will speak up, work well with all the other council members, and fully discuss the issues for greater transparency and better decision-making in our city government was also very well received.

I am flattered to have been told by many voters that my blog, my mailer, and my debate performances have revealed me as the passionate, intellectual candidate most knowledgeable about our city issues and community concerns.  Let us continue our conversation over the next eight weeks and help get the message out so that you can have the representation on City Council that you desire.
