Johns Creek Schools Named Most Challenging

Chattahoochee, Northview and Johns Creek high schools were among nine schools in North Fulton named to the list compiled by the Washington Post.

Johns Creek's three high schools have been cited for their ability to challenge their students to excel in the academic arena.

Chattahoochee, Johns Creek and Northview high schools have all been named to the America's Most Challenging High Schools list published by The Washington Post.

At the national level, Chattahoochee is list as No. 272, while Johns Creek is 486 and Northview is 250. When the field is focused on Georgia, Chattahoochee is 14th, Johns Creek is 23rd and Northview is 12th.

The index formula used for the rankings measures public and private high schools’ ability to challenge their students. A school’s ranking is determined by dividing the number of college-level tests given by a school to all its students by the number of graduates for that year.

Only 9 percent of the roughly 22,000 public high schools earned placement on the 2014 list.

Other Fulton County high school listings include: Alpharetta at 220; Riverwood International Charter at 237; Milton at 269; Roswell at 390; North Springs Charter at 659; Centennial at 716.

When narrowed down to Georgia, Alpharetta ranks at No. 8; Riverwood at 10; Milton is 13; Roswell comes in at 21; North Springs comes in at 29; and Centennial sits at 34.
