Autrey Middle School Takes on Cancer

The school held its sixth annual Walk-A-Thon on April 1, and raised over $900 for the Johns Creek Relay For Life initiative.

Autrey Middle School's F.I.G.H.T. (Fighting Igniting Giving Hope Together) Club held its 6th annual Walk-A-Thon to raise money for the Johns Creek Relay For Life.

The event was coordinated by the F.I.G.H.T. Club, Student Council and Junior Beta Club. The walkers enjoyed music and prizes were given for the most laps walked and most money collected.

The event, one of many fundraising efforts that the Autrey Mill Middle School team will hold, raised over $900 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Johns Creek.

“Everyone there was really into it because it contributes to such a good cause. It was very positive seeing the school come together; plus, who can turndown Dip-N-Dots,” said Julia Hope York, Autrey Mill Middle School student and cancer survivor.

The Relay For Life Johns Creek 2014 will be held on Friday, May 2 at Taylor Road Middle School. The event will kick off at 6 p.m.
