'Public Works Day'
Get an up-close view of bulldozers, backhoes, public safety vehicles and other cool machines that keep the City of Johns Creek running, at the city's 3rd annual "Public Works Day," Saturday, May 14.
Presented by the City's Public Works Department, in conjunction with National Public Works Week, the event offers people of all ages the opportunity to learn about the equipment used for projects, such as road improvements and traffic signal operations, from the professionals who operate the equipment.
The theme of this year's Public Works Day is "Serving our Johns Creek Community," and City staff will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate the many services provided by public works. The event also features games, prizes and food.
Local Cub and Boy Scout troops can earn merit badges and academic pins at "Public Works Day." Badge opportunities include: Citizenship in the Community, Soil and Water Conservation, Engineering and Traffic Safety; academic pins include Citizenship, Map and Compass and Mathematics. All the requirements of each merit badge may not be fulfilled at the event - specific aspects of each badge will be offered
