 Meet
the world’s most beloved red head, as she arrives at Avonlea to start a new
life. This play is based on the book written in 1908, by L. M. Montgomery.

 Set
in the early 1900s, on Prince Edward Island off the coast of Nova Scotia in
Canada. The story depicts life of Edwardian times in a small rural community
where farming is the main occupation and gossips are the local news exchanges.
Matthew Cuthbert and his sister Marilla decide to take on an orphan boy as help
for their farm. But they get an unexpected surprise when they're mistakenly
sent a girl instead: Anne Shirley. Anne's a dreamer with an unusual point of
view, far removed from Marilla's pragmatic ways, and it's only on trial that
Marilla agrees to keep Anne, if Anne can keep out of trouble. Though she has great difficulty controlling her
temper, impulsiveness and vivid imagination, Anne eventually wins over her new
guardians. Anne's secondary adventures
concern her "bosom friend" Diana and her supposed enemy Gilbert
Blythe. All discover that their lives have become a great deal richer,
now that Anne is at Green Gables. The story has all the elements of life:
youth, age, families, joy, sorrow, hope, disappointment, love and
rivalry.
