Life Has Been Hard for a Girl Named "Shaley"

Precious young pup looking for a warm lap, heart and home. Do you have one for her?

Meet Shaley.  She is a 2 year-old Hound mix female in search of a home and family to love and call her own.  If Shaley could speak to you today, this is most likely what she'd tell you about herself, her life, and her dreams:

"Hi, they call my Shaley, so I guess that's my name.  I'm a very happy girl now but I wasn't always this happy.  You see, I was put in a very 'unhappy' place called a high-kill shelter and no one seemed to care that I was very close to having babies.  Well, it turns out I had only one baby in that awful place and he was what humans call 'stillborn'.  I nudged him with my nose softly, over and over again, but he didn't move or make a sound.  The hardest part was, even though my heart was broken over my poor baby who lay lifeless next to me, no one seemed to care about us but me."

"I cried so hard when they separated me from my tiny bundle there on the cold floor of the shelter, and even though they told me some 'Angels' had come to take me to a happier place and I cried even harder because they wouldn't let me stay with him - I didn't realize at the time they were coming to save both me and my baby but he didn't make it in time for them to get there to save us."

"Even though they took me and placed me in a warm car and rushed me to the vets office, assuring me all the way that I would be okay and they were going to take great care of me, it took me some time to get past the loss of my only baby, to realize that my life had changed so much more for the better - you see, at the time, I had no idea that I wouldn't have lived much longer in that shelter where my puppy passed away.  Angels truly saved me and they have been so wonderful to me, helping me to become my old self and to be able to look forward to having a great new life, a new family, and a home to call my own forever.  I appreciate you listening to my story, and I hope I get to meet you soon!"

Precious Shaley has been fully vetted, spayed, is up-to-date on her shots and vetting, is microchipped, and ready to be adopted.  But there is so much more to her story.  You see, Shaley has relearned how to be a young dog herself and loves her foster mom and dad, as well as the dogs who share the home.

With help from her fosters, Shaley has learned how to cuddle which wasn't always what she knew to do, but soon she took to it and enjoys curling up right next to her humans now.  She loves playing with kids and dogs her size (Shaley weighs in at 35 pounds and doesn't particularly care for dogs larger than her size - they can be intimidating to her), and she also loves to "chase" cats so a home with felines would not be good for this girl.  She knows how to "sit", "shake" and can even "high 5"!  Shaley also can walk on her hind legs, and loves to entertain her people by doing her cute tricks.  Also, this great girl will do almost anything for a doggy treat!  And if you're busy cooking in the kitchen, Shaley will be happy to keep you company while you work - she'll also bring all her toys into the kitchen with her and happily play with them while you take care of kitchen duties.  And she will go into her crate - but - there's a "price" for her doing so: she needs to get a "treat" for being a good girl and going into her crate!  But Shaley knows that's not a very high price to pay.

One other thing you simply must know about this precious girl: she has the most incredibly soft fur, and loves to be petted!  The ideal home for this girl would be one where she can gets lots of attention, love and companionship!  A home with many animals wouldn't be ideal for her, as her little love bucket is constantly looking for someone to fill it.  A canine companion close to her size would be great, but she would also be happy being your one-and-only!  She would, however, love to have some older kids to play and run with and to watch her be goofy and funny and entertaining.  She will honestly fit perfectly into any size family as long as they offer her love, acceptance and companionship.  Can you help this girl finally find her way "forever" home?
