Wonderful Pet Seeking Equally Wonderful Family

Thinking about adopting a pet? Be sure and check out this wonderful animal who's looking for a forever home and family!

Meet Emerson!  Emerson is a beautiful, unique male dog who is a Chow Chow/Pomeranian/Spitz mix boy who is approximately 3-1/2 years old and weighs in at 33 pounds.  He is neutered, vetted, HW-, has all his shots, is microchipped and ready to be adopted by a family who is just as wonderful and unique as he is!  This boy is also house-trained and is perfect in his foster home - no accidents.  He isn't considered "crate-trained" and he doesn't need a crate when left alone because he is the perfect gentleman in the home!  His foster does leave his crate open during the day with a bed inside, as sometimes he just likes to go lay inside and sneak in a nap or just have some "me" time while the other furkids in the home play away.

Emerson came to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue from a shelter where he was brought in as a stray.  A wonderful older lady was trying to look after Emerson and another dog named Maximillian but soon realized she couldn't continue to feed these 2 strays, and take care of and feed her own animals so they were picked up and taken in at a shelter where Angels Rescue found them and brought them into foster homes.  Poor Emerson's hair was so long and so badly matted, he had to be literally shaved down so he could get relief from all the mats in his fur and other critters camping out and biting his poor flesh.  When the kind groomer finished with Emerson's new cut, he instantly got the nickname, "Lion Boy" because he wound up looking like a cute little wild cat cub instead of the cute doggy he's turned out to be!  We feel it gave a nice compliment to the cute, spunky little boy Emerson truly is, and it fitted his personality quite nicely.

Emerson is a sweet, loving, loyal dog but he's a bit on the very cautious side when he first meets anyone - canine or human.  He wouldn't do well with children younger than 12, as he tends to jump and react to sudden, sporadic movements around him.  It usually takes him about 10-15 minutes initially to warm up to you, and he tends to do nervous barking during that time, as some type of "defense" mechanism until he can be "sure" of the person or animal, and know they mean him no harm.  He is coming along quite nicely with socialization, thanks to his wonderful foster mom, so don't let that little "flaw" worry or concern you in considering possibly welcoming Emerson into your family or home.

On the plus side, this cute dog is seriously adorable!!  He has a beautiful, very expressive face and an awesome, spunky personality to go with it!  He loves, loves, loves to play with his foster brother, Sam, and adores going for walks around his foster family's neighborhood - prancing around, stopping to explore and smell everything along their route.  He's quite the handsome fella and is adored by others who see him out walking and prancing for all to see!

The ideal home for sweet Emerson would be one where his family and humans would continue his socialization, and helping him know the world is a safe and loving place to be.  A home with either a retirees, empty nesters, or work-at-home arrangements would be ideal for Emerson.  He just needs his human to be patient and loving with him and to realize he's had some pretty tough places in his life, and he's still learning how to re-trust his circumstances and surroundings and to know people can be good, loving, and his home is a safe, secure place.  He'd also require a fenced-in back yard with a secure gate, so he could play and romp to his heart's content.  If you have another furkid for him to play with, that would be wonderful, but he's okay, too, with being the only furbaby and will take all the loving attention and belly rubs you want to give him!
