A Beautiful Hero Dog is Looking for His Forever Home and Family!

Looking to open your heart and home to a true hero? Read about this wonderful animal who is looking for his forever home and family today!

Meet Patton!  This precious boy has such an incredible story to tell!

One fateful day in late May, 2013, a desperate call came into Angels Among Us Pet Rescue!  A local shelter alerted them about a horrific case of 15 Golden Retriever Collie mixes dumped at the shelter.  One rescue group was able to take 10 of them, and Angels took the remaining five.  Since it was the weekend of Memorial Day, they came to be called the "Memorial Day War Hero Dogs".

Upon intake at the shelter, the former owner acknowledged the dogs had been kept in a locked room their entire lives and that he had routinely used an electrical extension cord to discipline them.  HORRIFIC!

Each of the five dogs range in age from 1-3 years old.  They are all very beautiful, but so scared and nervous around other humans, waiting to see if they are going to be hurt or injured.  What a sad legacy to give these beautiful, loving creatures who usually bond so deeply with their owners that some literally grieve themselves to death upon losing their humans.  These animals will learn to love and trust again, but it will take time, patience, and loving hearts to give them the opportunity to retrust humans and to be wonderful companions for years to come.

One of the five, especially, is a true HERO - Patton is his name and he was named after General George Patton.  You see, this courageous dog would purposely stand in front of the other animals, placing himself directly between his former owner and his "pack", wilingly taking the abuse and pain of the electrical cord and plug on his body so the others wouldn’t be harmed.  He wears his battle scars proudly on his face, just as any hero does!  If you look closely at his picture, you will see several areas where his scars show - those were cruelly inflicted on his body but now they serve as badges and witness to his courage to protect his own against such unbelievable harm and pain!

Patton's future is certainly much brighter than his past, now that he is SAFE and an "Angels dog".  But now, sweet and loving Patton needs someont to rescue him by opening their heart and home and arms to this warrior and HERO!  Patton is up-to-date on all his shots, has been vetted, is neutered and microchipped, and is slowly learning how to trust being with other dogs and in an actual loving, safe home environment.  Won't YOU "welcome" this hero into your home today?
