UPDATE: Resident Qualifies for City Council Race

UPDATE at :10:04 a.m.: Before the qualifying period ended on Wednesday, Bob Gray decided to run for the Post 4 seat, which was vacated by former council member Ivan Figueroa, as opposed to the Post 6 seat.

A longtime Johns Creek resident has also entered the race to fill the Post 6 seat on the City Counil.

Robert "Bob" Gray has qualified to run for the seat, which was vacated last year by Bev Miller, who resigned in 2013 to run for mayor. 

Gray said his first calling to service came in 2006 when he was asked to work with Robert Horne to help Johns Creek transition into cityhood.

He said he once again wants to enter public sphere to serve Johns Creek residents.

“This election is about helping Johns Creek take the next step in its evolution as a city," he said. "It’s time to strengthen the city’s sense of identity, qualify of life and business investment and job creation.” 

Gray added he beleives the city is at a "critical" point and now is the time to "focus on giving our residents the kind of life they want and making Johns Creek the kind of community in which our children and grandchildren will want to live."  

All of which can and should be done without a tax increase, he added. 

Gray, wife Susanne and their four children attend North Point Community Church. 

He's the former chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Swift School, where his son attends classes. 

Gray is also the past president of NTT Data - Commercial Services and former executive and partner with Capgemini and Ernst & Young. 

He's currently involved in Atlanta’s technology and venture community, mentoring entrepreneurs and serves on the board of directors of a start up networking solutions company.  

Gray earned a master's of business administration from the University of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in engineering from Purdue University. Gray, wife Susanne and their four children attend North Point Community Church.
