Broadbent Enters Race for Johns Creek City Council Post 4
Johns Creek resident began his career as an officer in the United States Navy, where he served assignments at sea, in the Mideast, and in Washington, DC.
Steve Broadbent has declared he will campaign for the open Johns Creek City Council seat vacated by Ivan Figueroa.
In January, Figueroa, council member for Post 4, officially notified the City of Johns Creek that he was resigning. February 1 was his last day in office.
Figueroa said he considered the fact that by resigning this month the city could hold the election to fill his seat at the same time as the election for the Post 6 seat, which was vacated last August when Bev Miller resigned to run for the mayor's seat.
Qualifying for Johns Creek's Special Election to fill City Council Posts 4 and 6 will be held Monday, March 3 through Wednesday, March 5. The Special Election will be held May 20, 2014.
“The citizens of Johns Creek have been fortunate to have had many wonderful elected and community leaders," Broadbent said in a press release. "Their contributions to the City of Johns Creek have led to many significant achievements since its founding seven years ago; however significant challenges face us.
"I plan an active campaign in which I will be knocking on doors throughout Johns Creek. I want to hear from our residents about the positive attributes of our city, along with its challenges, and how we can work together to create an even better city.”
According to the release, Broadbent is active in his community, a successful businessman, and an experienced leader with proven skills. He is a successful small business owner where he provides specialized consulting services to publicly-traded and large, privately held corporations.
Previous business experience includes 11 years with AT&T where he last served as a Sales Vice President in Los Angeles.
Additionally, Broadbent was appointed by President George H.W. Bush to serve as a Deputy Assistant Secretary in the U.S. Department of the Treasury where he worked throughout the Bush Administration.
Broadbent began his career as an officer in the United States Navy where he served assignments at sea, in the Mideast, and in Washington, DC. He retired from the Navy as a Commander following 22 years on active duty and in the Navy Reserves.
Broadbent’s campaign website, www.voteBroadbent.com, will be launched shortly.
