A man was struck and killed by a train in downtown Cartersville shortly before 10 p.m. on Nov. 1. Capt. Mark Camp of the Cartersville Police Department released this statement:
"A short time ago a male subject was hit by a train on the railroad tracks in downtown Cartersville near Museum Drive and West Main Street. From the information I have been given the subject is deceased.” See Cartersville Patch for more on this story.
Woman Killed When Car Strikes Tree – Woodstock Patch
Speed and alcohol may have been a contributing factor in an accident that took the life of a Woodstock woman late Wednesday night.
Lydia Bordacs, 57, of Woodstock, died from injuries she suffered after her SUV crashed head-on into a tree along South Cherokee Lane near Jamerson Road at the Cobb/Cherokee line.
Bordacs, who was behind the wheel, hit a tree shortly before 10:20 p.m. and landed near the woods along the road. Her son Peter Kubanyi, 33, was a passenger in the vehicle and was not seriously injured in the accident. Woodstock Patch has more on this story.
