Miss America Visits Area to Kick Off Healthy Cooking for Kids Campaign

Miss America Teresa Scanlan was on hand this week to help Publix and Produce for Kids kick off a healthy cooking campaign that benefits Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

Along with Michael Maliska, resident chef at the Publix located at 4305 State Bridge Road, Scanlan instructed the children, many of whom were Miracle kids, on safe and healthy eating and cooking practices. Scanlan, true to her platform of healthy eating, helped the kids prepare a meal consisting of garden vegetable pasta, fresh salad and chocolate fruit dippers.

The ninth year that Publix has partnered with Produce for Kids, purchase of the following items June 2-29 will benefit Children's Miracle Network: Coast Tropical mangos; Crunch Pak sliced apples; Del Monte Gold extra sweet pineapple; Fresh Express packaged salads; Marie's dressings and dips; Oppenheimer tomatoes; RealSweet Vidalia onions; Tropicana Pure Premium 59 oz. and 64 oz. juices; and Village Farms tomatoes.
