Handel to Explain Komen Incident, Sign Book

Two different events will allow local residents to hear former Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel's position about what lead to her resignation from Susan G. Komen.

The North Fulton and Friends Tea Party (NFFTea) will host Roswell resident Karen Handel during a special speaking and book signing event Tuesday.

Handel, the author of "Planned Bullyhood: The Truth Behind Planned Parenthood’s Funding Battle with Susan G. Komen,” is fresh from appearances on national media such as Fox News, Lou Dobbs and a dozen radio, television, national magazine interviews and speaking engagements.

Her new book tells the up close story of the conflict between Susan G. Komen and Planned Parenthood from her perspective at the center of the explosive national firestorm.

Handel - a former candidate for Georgia governor, former Georgia Secretary of State, and former Chair of the Fulton County Commission - documents an insider account of how Planned Parenthood, in partnership with the liberal establishment, made Komen pay for daring to put its mission above the ideology of the almighty left.

"That’s why I left Komen," she writes, "…to be free to tell the full and unadulterated truth - not attributed to unnamed sources and distorted by media assumptions and outright lies."

Handel will discuss her politically charged position and departure as Senior VP of the Susan G. Komen foundation and staunch resistance to funding Planned Parenthood during the upcoming event in Roswell.

"Roswell is so proud of Karen Handel," said NFFTea Lead Committee member Dianne DeVore. "She is a champion for standing up to the scrutiny and heat of the left wing mainstream media. North Fulton & Friends is proud to present her to the community to thank her for her character and positions."

On Tuesday, Oct. 16, local residents will have a chance to meet, hear and get a personally signed book by Handel at the Holiday Inn, 909 Holcomb Bridge Road (behind Olive Garden and Peachtree Diner) from 6:30 p.m.- 8 p.m. Admission to the event is free. Books can be purchased on-site for $25. .
