Several Barrow County Homes Damaged by Fire This Week - Barrow Patch

Barrow County Emergency Services were dispatched to several fires that damaged homes this week.

Just before 5 p.m. Tuesday they received a 911 call reporting a fire in the 100 block of Alicia Drive. Upon arrival of firefighters, fire was found in the garage and had extended into the attic. Firefighters started an aggressive attack and kept the fire from spreading further into the house.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. Visit Barrow Patch for more on this story.

Man Stuck by Syringe Needle Found in Sealed Bag from Walmart -Cartersville Patch

An Adairsville man was stuck with a syringe he said was in a sealed bag he purchased at the Walmart in Cartersville.

He notified Bartow County Sheriff's Office authorities Wednesday morning, soon after opening the bag of birdseed at his Pleasant Valley Road home, according to the incident report, attached.

The victim, 52, said he opened the bag and was stuck by a sharp object, which he later determined was a needle from a syringe. Deputies collected it as evidence, and investigators are looking into the incident. .

Kennesaw Man Convicted of Murder Could Be Released - Kennesaw Patch

After John McNeil was sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting a man at his Kennesaw home in 2005, supporters spent years fighting for his freedom.

Tuesday, that years-long legal fight could come to an end, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

McNeil, whose wife died of breast cancer on Saturday, is scheduled to go before a Cobb County Superior Court judge and plead to a lesser crime of manslaughter, a move that could allow him to leave state prison as early as next week. Read more on Kennesaw Patch.

A chicken chain manager in Oconee County is $1 million richer.

Catherine Householder of Bogart recently won the prize playing the instant game 50X The Money, according to a Georgia Lottery news release.

NBA Star's Metro Atlanta Mansion up for Sale
 - Buckhead Patch

NBA star Allen Iverson's Buckhead estate on West Paces Ferry is up for sale. The $2.8 million home is 10,000 square feet and features six bedrooms and six bathrooms.

Iverson lived in the mansion with his wife and five kids after building it in 2009. Now that he and his estranged wife Tawanna Turner have now finalized their divorce, he is looking to find a buyer for the home. Read more about the mansion and see photos of the interior on Buckhead Patch.
