Dacula Woman Killed in Domestic Dispute; Man Stabbed in Midtown Fight

A Dacula woman is dead as a result of what police believe was a domestic dispute.

Police were called to the 2600 block of Kachina Trail in the Apalachee Heritage subdivision in Dacula on Friday, March 1, at 10:07 a.m. According to Gwinnett County Police Department public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith, the suspect in the case -- the husband of the deceased woman -- was the person who called 911.

"It's a domestic-related homicide," Smith said. 

The wife, who Smith estimated was in her late fifties, appears to have died from a gunshot wound. See Dacula Patch for more on this story.

Man Stabbed During Fight in Midtown - Midtown Patch

Michael Taylor Zimmerman, 26, remains in jail after last weekend's street fight near 5th and Juniper streets that led to a man being stabbed and rushed to Grady Hospital.

Project Q is reporting that the victim is a 32 year old gay man, and that he and the suspect knew each other. Project Q reports that witnesses saw Zimmerman fighting with the victim, and that the victim was screaming for help. The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22. Former Snellville Resident and Current County Supervisor in Virginia Charged with Forcible Sodomy - Snellville Patch

Christopher Dumler, former Eagle Scout and Snellville native was charged with felony sodomy but pleaded guilty to a lesser charge, sexual battery, in January. 

Despite his conviction, he has not stepped down from his position as supervisor of Albemarle County in Virginia, according to Daily Mail. 

Dumler graduated from Shiloh High in 2002 and went on to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. He graduated with highest honors in 2006, earning degrees in chemical and biomolecular engineering, according to his campaign website. He then went on to the University of Virginia law school and has been dubbed a "rising star" in Democratic politics. 

He was charged with forcible sodomy, a felony offense, in October 2012. Had the felony charge stuck, he would have been forced to step down, but since a plea deal allowed him to plead guilty on the lesser charge of sexual battery, he is not required to. Snellville Patch has more on this story.

- Oconee Patch

A Watkinsville man was taken into custody on Thursday on charges of child molestation and sexual battery.

"We found out about this yesterday,"Oconee County Sheriff Scott Berry said. "We developed some information and took him into custody [during a traffic stop]."

John David Cooper, 44, of Stonebridge Circle, was booked around 5:30 p.m. on one count each of child molestation, sexual battery, and electronically furnishing obscene materials to a minor, according to jail records. Oconee Patch has more on this story.

Student Involved in Grady HS Gun Incident Now Charged in Hit and Run - Virginia Highlands-Druid Hills Patch

One day after being charged with shooting herself accidentally in the leg outside Grady High School, Morgan Tukes has been charged in a previously unsolved hit and run accident from October.

4 new charges have been added to Ms. Tukes, due to the October incident including, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, obstruction, fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and reckless driving. Virginia Highlands-Druid Hills Patch has an update to this story.
